Owasso City Manager Faces Felony Charge

He's been the face of Owasso politics for over 20 years, a presence of confidence and direction that has now left many at city hall confused and disoriented.

"We're very surprised by it and very disheartened," said Owasso spokesperson Chelsea Levo.

Two counts of supposed wrong doing. That Rodney Ray allegedly wrote a $3,000 bad check to Clear Tone hearing aids, then supposedly filed a police report saying that the check had been stolen to prove that he didn't write the check. Mr. Ray declined an on camera interview but said, " I certainly don't believe there's any wrongdoing on my part."

"This issue, he's very aware of it, and he's made good on it. I mean restitution has been done," said Levo.

Meanwhile, all of this is happening while he's already been on administrative leave since May 24th pending a city investigation into two other issues that sources say aren't criminal in nature, but rather, matters of policy. Nevertheless, the cumulative clouds can be tough to reconcile with a public official many hold in high esteem.

"He's been a loved and faithful leader for the city employees," said Levo.

Tuesday, city councilors will discuss the latest cloud over Mr. Ray in an executive session.

"Do you anticipate him coming back, cause politically this could be tough to come back from?" asked News Channel 8. "I certainly hope that he does," said Levo.
