CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) - The rain brought in by Tropical Storm Andrea is causing a number of power outages in the area.

Charleston County was hit the hardest Friday morning.  As many as 5,000 people were without power.  Those numbers are down to 14 outages and 727 people affected as of 10:15 a.m. Friday.

2,000 plus were without power in West Ashley early Friday morning.  SCE&G reported that outage around Highway 17, from I-526 all the way up to Main Road.

Downed powerlines at Folly Road and Harbor View Road caused some traffic in the area. The National Weather Service reported that police closed down the intersection until power was restored.

City officials say the downed powerlines are cleared, the light is working again and there is no flooding or road closures in the area.

Another large power outage was reported near Highway 162 in Hollywood.  SCE&G reports indicated almost 1,700 people were affected by this outage.  Most of that power was restored by 7 a.m. Friday.

Another outage off Ethel Post Office Road, just south of Meggett, affected close to 350 people.

People near St. Andrews Gardens Apartments off of Ashley River Road were also without power.

There is also a cluster of outages in James Island affecting about 100 homes off of Harbor View Rd and Folly Rd south of the Charleston Country Club. They may have to wait until after 9 a.m. for the lights to come back on.

Another James Island outage near Bayview Farms and Stonefield is affecting about 150 people and should be fixed by about 8:30 a.m.
