LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - The Sequoyah National Research Center at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock is receiving a $20,000 grant for an exhibit on stereotypes of Native Americans.

The Arkansas Natural and Cultural Resources Council is awarding the grant to the research center to process and exhibit the Herschfelder-Molin Stereotypes Collection.

The collection shows American Indians during the history of the United States being depicted stereotypically as the "noble savage," the "Indian princess" and the "drunken Indian."

The collection includes some 1400 artifacts such as advertisements, sports memorabilia, toys, books, clothing and other items depicting Native American stereotypes collected over a forty-year period.
