Police: Arkadelphia pawn shop hit by thieves

Posted: Updated:

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. (AP) - Authorities are investigating after four people stole $15,000 cash from an Arkadelphia pawn shop after distracting the store's two employees.

Arkadelphia Police Sgt. Roy Bethell did not release specifics about how the group stole the cash from Caddo Pawn without anyone noticing. He tells the Siftings Herald (http://bit.ly/181jdnX ) the people were apparently working together to divert the employees' attention.

Bethell says the group visited the shop Thursday. A day later, an employee noticed the missing cash and contacted police.

Police say surveillance video shows one woman pawning a leaf blower while a man walked around the store, touching items and wiping them clean with a rag. Police believe the man was trying to conceal his fingerprints.

No one has been arrested, though police say they have a person of interest.
