Child safety seat check set for Saturday at McCain Mall

Posted: Updated:

NORTH LITTLE ROCK - Police will host a child safety seat check at McCain Mall this Saturday.

Bring your child and primary vehicle to the southeast corner of McCain Mall (next to Firestone) between 9:00 and noon.

Certified safety seat technicians will be on hand not only to make sure you have your seat installed properly, but also that it's the right size for your child and is not on any recall lists.

According to the Safe Kids website, child safety seats reduce fatal injury in passenger cars by 71 percent for infants less than 1 year old and by 54 percent for toddlers 1 to 4 years of age.  For children 4 to 7 years of age, booster seats have shown to reduce injury risk by 59 percent compared to safety belts alone.

This event is sponsored by the North Little Rock Police Department in conjunction with the Arkansas Highway Safety Office and Dimensions' Passenger Safety Program.

For more information contact Sgt.Brian Dedrick at the listed Public Information numbers or visit www.safekids.org.
