Medical examiner IDs body found at Mena resort

Posted: Updated:

MENA, Ark. (AP) - Authorities have identified the man found dead at a resort near Mena.

The Polk County Sheriff's Office says medical examiners identified the victim as 19-year-old Benjamin Wahl of Mena. The sheriff's office says Wahl's body was found floating in a pond at Dreamland Vacation Resort on May 7.

Authorities say the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory is still determining a cause of death, but foul play isn't suspected.

The sheriff's office says Wahl was known to wear a fixed-blade knife on his waist and a lariat rope around his shoulder. Both items were recovered at the scene.

Investigators say there were no obvious signs of trauma or injury but the case is considered a criminal matter until an exact cause of death is known.
