LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - The Arkansas State Board of Education is recognizing five principals who've completed the work needed to become master school principals.

The state board honored the five principals Monday. Each principal completed three years of professional development plus an additional year of performance evaluations. The principals are from schools in Fouke, Springdale, Dover, Bentonville and Beebe.

The new master principals are: Ken Endris from Fouke Elementary School, Debbie Flora from Bernice Young Elementary School, Donny Forehand from Dover Elementary School, Lisa St. John from Apple Glen Elementary School and Karla Tarkington from Badger Elementary School.

Master school principals receive a $9,000 annual bonus for five years after earning the designation. They're also eligible for an additional $25,000 per year if they are selected to serve in a low-performing school.
