Heavy rains fall across the eastern counties of Green Country early Friday morning.

According to the National Weather Service, at 1:10am Friday a weather site near Westville recorded a half-inch of rainfall in just 15 minutes.

By 2:30am Friday, gauges in Flint Creek and Highway 59 near Kansas showed stream levels at 8-feet, which is considered action stage. The weather service said the creek was rising quickly, but should crest below flood stage.

A flash flood warning is in effect until 4:30am for Rogers, Wagoner, Cherokee, Mayes and Delaware counties until 4:30am Friday.

Our newsroom checked with emergency dispatchers in those counties, and there were no issues reported due to the rainfall. The same report comes from the two Oklahoma Highway Patrol troops that serve those counties.

The weather service reports up to three inches of rain have fallen in these areas and an additional two inches is possible before the storms move out.

It's important to never drive into a flooded roadway. Just two feet of water can to sweep vehicles downstream.
