1 killed, 2 injured in 6 vehicle crash on I-40

PRAIRIE COUNTY (KATV) - A six-vehicle crash killed at least one and injured two others on I-40 Wednesday morning.

Arkansas State Police confirm five commercial tractor-trailer trucks and a passenger mini-van crashed in the eastbound lanes near the 199 mile marker.

The Arkansas Highway Department said the area has been under construction for the last year-and-a-half and officials acknowledged the area can be dangerous for drivers. Construction is slated to wrap up in the next six weeks.

State Police would not confirm any more details about the crash saying they wanted to notify the relatives of the victim who died before releasing any more information.

Traffic began moving again - both eastbound and westbound - around 3:00 Wednesday afternoon.

UPDATE: Arkansas State Police identified the victim who died in this crash Thursday morning. Click here for the full story.
