Tampon maker sues recycler, says defective product sold

LITTLE ROCK -

Kimberly-Clark Corp. has filed a lawsuit claiming a recycler sold defective feminine hygiene products made at its Conway factory instead of destroying them as agreed.

A spokesman for Dallas-based Kimberly-Clark said Thursday that it found improperly made tampons for sale on the Internet. The company says it had an agreement with Texas-based Balcones Recycling to destroy the items but found them for sale on the Internet.

Balcones says the allegations were incorrect and that it would fight the lawsuit.

Kimberly-Clark claims in the suit filed in Little Rock federal court that it spent $2.4 million to recall the products.
