Texarkana Fire Department to receive federal grant

Posted: Updated:

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Sens. Mark Pryor and John Boozman have announced a federal grant for the Texarkana Fire Department.

The two say the department will receive the $168,480 grant from the Department of Homeland Security's Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program to purchase safety equipment and provide training for local firefighters.

The Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program is intended to help fire departments and emergency medical services organizations to improve their response capabilities and better protect the public during an emergency.
