REDFIELD (KATV) - The Pine Bluff Police Department's public information officer was found dead at her home Tuesday night.

The coroner has not yet ruled on Lt. JoAnn Bates' cause of death and no other details were released Wednesday other than a statement from PBPD Chief Jeff Hubanks saying that her death was under investigation. The statement also said:

"The coming days will be difficult as we make preparations to say goodbye both personally and professionally. A loss such as this brings with it far more questions than answers and individually we become stunned and inarticulate.

"However, within our group we can find some measure of solace and it is a group - a department that we will best navigate these troubled waters. Let this be a time to come together. There is no more fitting memorial to the life and service of our dearly departed than that we become a better and more cohesive group .

"May God bless you and keep you."
