The State of Preschool 2012 study released

(KATV) States across the nation are spending less per child on preschool programs but Arkansas is bucking that trend.

A report by the National Institute for Early Education Research at Rutgers University says while state funding for such programs had its largest drop ever last year, Arkansas spending increased by more than $200 dollars.

In 2012, the state ranked 11th in enrollment and 10th in funding. The report praised Arkansas saying high-quality programs put our state among the top ten for quality.

Arkansas Spending:

2011: $5,182

2012: $5,409

Ranked 11th in enrollment and 10th in funding.
