Comcast Cares Day volunteers help local Boys and Girls Club

Posted: Updated:

Comcast employees and volunteers rolled up their sleeves Saturday to help make Little Rock's Dalton Whetstone Boys and Girls Club a nicer place to be.

The hard work was to commemorate the 12th annual Comcast Cares Day.

It's the nation's largest single-day corporate volunteer effort.

Approximately 3,000 local Comcast Cable employees, their families and friends made change happen by lending a hand at several community organizations.

Volunteers and Comcast employees cleaned up and painted.

The Dalton Whetstone Boys & Girls Club also received a grant from Comcast.

"We're painting, we're freshening up the library, we are outside and we're clearing a trail a walking path for the kids," said Evangeline Parker Guest, Comcast Cares coordinator. "We're cleaning up the ball park, we're creating no-sew blankets for shelters. We are involved in service here to make this environment a very nice place for the kids."

The volunteers also created an art supply room for the kids.
