UPDATE: Ark. Children's Hospital gets $1M for burn unit

Posted: Updated:

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Arkansas Children's Hospital is getting a $1 million donation for its burn center.

The hospital announced the contribution Tuesday from Charles and Cindy Fuller. Officials say the gift will be used to provide an endowed chair for the only burn treatment facility in the state.

The Fullers' daughter, Rachel, was treated at the burn center after an American Airlines jetliner crash-landed in Little Rock in 1999.

Rachel died after about two weeks of treatment but the Fullers said they were so touched by the care she received that they wanted to help the center in her honor.

The crash of American Airlines Flight 1420 killed 11 people, including the pilot.
