Recycling Event Celebrates Earth Day, Benefits Food Bank

Posted: Updated:

A recycling event is both celebrating Earth Day and helping the food bank.

Sims Metal Management is hosting the "We CAN End Hunger" food drive both Saturday and Monday.

Anyone with recyclables may bring in their aluminum to get a premium rate per pound.  Proceeds will benefit the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma.

They are putting together backpacks for Springdale Elementary and Sapulpa area schools.

It's a good time to recycle this time of year, and it helps that it helps someone in the community," says Maggie Hoey with the food bank.

The program continues Monday from 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
