"Before the Casket" program aimed at high risk youth

Posted: Updated:

(KATV) It's a presentation hosted by Stop the Violence to show the effects of murder on families, friends and communities.

Local police, crime scene detectives, the coroner and funeral home directors will be talking to teens.

Sgt. Willie Davis with the Little Rock Police Department says it's a way to bring the topic of murder to the forefront. He says it's not just an event for teens but for the whole community.

Families who lost a loved one to murder will be on hand to tell their story and answer questions. On January 30, 2013, a North Little Rock High School student was killed in a drive by shooting. After her death, classmate Greg Fudge organized a peace march and started a youth chapter of Stop the Violence. Fudge will be at the event.

The presentation is Saturday, April 20th it starts at 11 a.m. at Pilgrim Valley Baptist Church in Little Rock.
