FAYETTEVILLE (AP) - Brandon Allen and Brandon Mitchell's competition to be the starting quarterback at Arkansas likely won't end after Saturday's Red-White game.
The two have battled each other throughout the spring, hoping to be named Tyler Wilson's successor. Allen has outperformed Mitchell so far, but new Arkansas coach Bret Bielema isn't quite ready to name a starter.
Allen, a sophomore, says he doesn't mind carrying the competition over into the fall and he plans to lead offseason workouts throughout the summer.
Mitchell is a senior who hopes his time at wide receiver last season gives him an edge in the race to be named the starter when the Razorbacks open their season on Aug. 31 against Louisiana-Lafayette.
