Trailer Home Tossed Onto Another Home In Spavinaw

Posted: Updated:

A possible tornado picks up a mobile home and tosses it on top of another home in the small town of Spavinaw in Mayes County.

Storms early Thursday sent at least 30 people to a shelter, after their homes were damaged by high winds and heavy rains.

Emergency managers said no serious injuries were reported in that city. Residents escaped the rubble, climbing from crumpled walls and from behind appliances.

In an impressive show of nature's power, the winds flipped a mobile home trailer up and on top of a slab-foundation house.

Those same winds ripped the roof off the town's school and damaged it to the point that classes were canceled for Thursday.
