NORTH LITTLE ROCK (AP) - Arkansas Travelers' pitcher Michael Roth is making the jump from the Texas League to the big leagues.
The Los Angeles Angels on Saturday called up Roth from its Class AA affiliate.
The 23-year-old Roth pitched in college for South Carolina and was picked in the ninth round of the 2012 amateur draft.
Roth, a left-hander, has just 27 innings of minor league experience, having pitched last season for the Orem Owlz, a rookie-league Angels' affiliate in Utah.
Roth had one outing for the Travs this season, picking up a win versus Midland for five innings of scoreless work.
The Angels placed right-hander Kevin Jespen and shortstop Erick Aybar on the 15-day disabled list to make room for Roth and outfielder J.B. Schuck.
