Sand Springs, OK -

A Sand Springs restaurant manager was arrested Thursday after an investigation into possible embezzlement at a pizza chain.

Sand Springs Police placed Jason Martin under arrest just after 1 p.m. Thursday on an embezzlement by employee complaint. Martin had been managing the Mazzio's at 408 E. Plaza Ct.

According to an arrest report, an investigation was conducted by an auditor for the Mazzio's corporation. The investigation lead them to the store in Sand Springs and a particular deposit that was short $100 back in March.

A manager for the store was informed of the shortage who pulled up the past orders and found "numerous orders that had been voided" by Martin who was managing the store that night. Several other orders also were voided on separate occasions in March.

Upon further investigation, the manager contacted the accounting department who ran a report of voided orders for the last year. It was then discovered that Martin voided 1024 orders since April 5 totaling just over $20,000, according to the police report.

Investigators were able to determine that Martin unposted complete orders and voided them allow him to take the money without a trail on the nightly books.

The employee investigating the embezzlement proceeded to contact Martin who "admitted to stealing money from Mazzio's." He also confessed to voiding several orders over the last seven months.

Martin was placed under arrest and transported to the Tulsa County Jail. He is due in court next week.
