Officers placed a Tulsa man under arrest Thursday afternoon after his son came to school with an injury to his lip.

Tulsa Police booked Bertheophilus Bailey on a child abuse complaint Thursday afternoon. Bailey also was on a deferred sentence for a previous child abuse charge.

According to the police report, a TPD officer responded to Country Lane Elementary in reference to a child abuse call. When he arrived at the school he spoke to a Department of Human Services employee who told him that she had a picture of Bailey's son with a "laceration on the child's inside upper lip."

By the time the officer arrived at the school the child was already placed on a bus on his way home.

During their conversation, the DHS employee told the officer that the child told her Bailey punched him in the face, according to the release. Another detective at the scene also reported that Bailey had a deferred sentence and "if there was a visible injury" to place him under arrest.

After determining there was a visible injury, officers placed Bailey under arrest and transported him to the Tulsa County Jail. He also was jailed on previous outstanding warrants for improper license plat and no insurance.
