FAYETTEVILLE (AP) - Arkansas scored three runs in the first inning and held on to that lead to beat Mississippi State 3-1 in Fayetteville on Sunday.
The Razorbacks won the series and improved to 21-8 overall and 6-3 in Southeastern Conference play. Mississippi State drops to 23-8 and 3-6 in league play.
Tyler Spoon and Matt Vinson each had a hit and an RBI for the Razorbacks, while Jacob Mahan and Joe Serrano had a hit and a run scored.
Arkansas' Randall Fant allowed one run on four hits and struck out six over six innings of work. Colby Suggs picked up the save for the Razorbacks after taking over in the ninth inning.
The Razorbacks head to Tuscaloosa this week to take on Alabama. The series begins Thursday at 7 p.m.
