Big drop in Arkansas meth labs

Posted: Updated:

LONOKE COUNTY (KATV) – New information from the Drug Enforcement Agency shows meth labs in Arkansas have decreased by almost 90 percent.

The DEA reports only 100 meth labs were investigated in 2012, compared to the 814 busted in 2010.

Local authorities point to enhanced regulations on methamphetamine ingredients, but also to the evolution of international "super labs" that can produce another drug known as ice.

However, on March 8 authorities in Pulaski and Faulkner County investigated two separate meth labs. Multiple arrests were made at a Mayflower location and at a residence along Mac Arthur Drive in the Oak Grove community.
