Clarksville officer dies while chasing parolee

CLARKSVILLE (KATV) - The Coordinator of the 5th Judicial District Drug Task Force died while checking on a parolee Tuesday.

According to Chief Greg Donaldson, the parolee ran from authorities and Larry Johnson chased the parolee into a wooded area. Johnson was found unresponsive and later passed away.

An investigation is ongoing but no foul play is suspected. It is believed he passed away due to health reasons.

Chief Donaldson said Johnson was always truly dedicated to his job. He was 65 years old.
