FAYETTEVILLE (AP) - A complete game against South Carolina led Arkansas pitcher Ryne Stanek to Pitcher of the Week honors in the Southeastern Conference.
Stanek gave up two unearned runs and three hits on Saturday. He also struck out seven, a season-high.
With Stanek pitching, Arkansas retired the first eight South Carolina batters and also 14 of the last 16. For the weekend, Arkansas' three victories at South Carolina made it the first SEC team to sweep a full series in Columbia since 1999.
Saturday's game was the second complete game of the junior right-hander's career. He has a 2-1 record and a 2.35 ERA.
Arkansas plays Mississippi Valley State twice over the next two days - Tuesday in Fayetteville and Wednesday in North Little Rock. The Razorbacks play Mississippi State next weekend.
