Two trains collide in White County

WHITE COUNTY (KATV) -

A collision between two trains derails dozens of cars and injured one person.

The incident happened around 2:00 p.m. Saturday near Highway 367 and Doyle Road near Garner.

A train with 56 cars was passing three stopped locomotives on a parallel track and the moving train hit one of the stopped locomotives, according to a spokesperson with Union Pacific Railroad. 

One person was injured and taken to a nearby hospital.

The collision caused 25 railcars to derail. 

The train was hauling mainly auto parts from Laredo, Texas to Salem, Illinois. 

No hazardous material was involved.

The incident is being investigated by a representative from Union Pacific.
