LITTLE ROCK (KATV) - A law firm building caught fire Friday afternoon, shutting down sections of Cantrell Road.

A fire marshall on scene said the fire at Boyd Law Firm at 1317 Cantrell Rd. was accidental and appeared to have started on the back deck of the first floor. Two people were inside when the fire started but got out safely.

A secretary said her office was adjacent to the outdoor space where the fire started. She heard some popping then saw smoke and something fall from the roof.

The other person inside tried to put the fire out but couldn't.

Firefighters worked to tarp and cover the building and made sure there were no hot spots before leaving the scene.

The building was heavily damaged but not ruled a total loss Friday night. The structure was built in 1897. The Boyd Law Firm moved-in in 1997.

The business will move to a temporary location. They don't expect service to be disrupted because client information was not harmed.

Cantrell Road re-opened for traffic Friday evening.
