HAZEN -

State Police have identified the individual who was killed in a multi-vehicle accident on Interstate 40 Thursday morning.

Austin Jarrett, 25, of Cabot was in one of the six vehicles involved in the crash that happened near mile marker 200. The crash summary report says four cars were stopped in the eastbound lanes. Witnesses told authorities on the scene that metal debris from the roadway became airborne and hit at least one vehicle causing those four cars to stop.

Then an 18-wheeler slammed into a vehicle behind the four stopped vehicles, causing a chain reaction. Ten other people were injured in that accident and taken to hospitals in Stuttgart and Little Rock.

Traffic was shut down for several hours and the accident was cleared by six o'clock Thursday evening.
