UPDATE: Garland County shooting victim identified

Posted: Updated:

GARLAND COUNTY (KATV) - A man was robbed and shot several times Thursday night.

Lt. James Martin with the sheriff's office said deputies were called to an area of Icom Place and Tatum Street at 9:45 p.m. They found 26-year-old Travis Skaggs injured on the side of the road. He had been assaulted and shot multiple times.

Before an ambulance took him to the hospital, Skaggs told deputies he had come to visit a friend on Icom Place. He said that's when two men attacked him, took his money, shot him and ran away.

The victim was able to walk from the scene and yell for help. Neighbors who heard called police for him. Police could not say what his condition was, but said Skaggs was still being treated at a Little Rock hospital Friday evening.

As of 2:00 Friday morning, deputies were still investigating the area in search of clues that would lead to the suspects.

If you know anything that could help, call the Garland County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigation Division at (501) 622-3690 or their anonymous tip line at (501) 622-3674.
