LITTLE ROCK (KATV) - Police arrested a Little Rock man Thursday evening after he allegedly shot at an officer then led detectives on a manhunt.

Randy Christopher Crook tried to run over an officer with his car near the intersection of Eagle Talon and Windrush roads, according to police.

"The officer felt threatened and, at that point, [opened fire] to try and stop the threat," said Little Rock Police Department spokesperson Dewanna Phillips.

State police launched their chopper to help in the search, along with LRPD's K-9 Unit but it was someone in the neighborhood where Crook ran away who turned him in to police, according to Phillips.

"A neighbor or somebody in the neighborhood made it a point of calling [police] and they identified and brought the subject down so we could speak with him," Phillips added.

No one was injured.

Officers said the incident started when they first tried to arrest Crook on felony warrants for breaking and entering, theft of property and fleeing but the 32-year-old reportedly jumped out of a stolen car and ran away. After Thursday's chase, Crook was charged with additional counts of fleeing and theft by receiving, according to Phillips.
