CONWAY (KATV, Log Cabin Democrat) - Jurors handed down the maximum sentence available for Michael Fowler after finding him guilty of negligent homicide, DWI and leaving the scene of the death of 12-year-old Garrett Martin.

Prosecutors said Fowler hit and killed Martin while the juvenile was on an ATV outside his home in Wooster. Fowler was allegedly intoxicated at the time and drove away after the incident. Police caught up with him an hour later in Conway County.

Fowler, 28, was already classified as a habitual offender, having four previous felony convictions related to breaking and entering or residential burglary. He was sentenced to a total of 55 years in prison and $25,000 in fines.
