March 19: Inaugural Arkansas Legislative Hoops Game

Posted: Updated:

LITTLE ROCK (KATV) - Members of the Arkansas House of Representatives and Arkansas Senate will square off in Hoops for Kids' Sake, the inaugural charity legislative basketball game on Tuesday, March 19, at 7pm, at the Jack T. Stephens Center. Celebrity players, coaches and special guests will be on hand for the bipartisan exhibition game.

Channel Seven's Steve Sullivan will be coaching one of the teams.

All proceeds will benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arkansas (BBBSCA), allowing the organization to continue its mission of providing children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better, forever.

"This first-time event is sure to be a fun, competitive game between the two chambers," said Arkansas Speaker of the House Davy Carter, "and I'm hopeful we can have a good turnout to support Big Brothers Big Sisters."

General admission tickets are $5 and available at the door. Doors open at 6pm.

"The Senate has recruited several key celebrity players," said Senate President Pro Tempore Michael Lamoureux, "and I suspect that will be the key for our chamber to bring back the inaugural trophy to our side of the Capitol."

Celebrity players, coaches and special guests will be announced at a later date. The Stephens Center is located on the University of Arkansas at Little Rock campus at 2801 South University in midtown Little Rock.

Hours before the game even started, the Arkansas Senate sent out a press release with their vision of the outcome of the game.
