Little Rock Diocese to celebrate installation of Pope Francis

Posted: Updated:

The Little Rock Diocese of the Catholic Church will have a special Mass of Thanksgiving for newly-elected Pope Francis, celebrating his installation Mass.

The special mass, led by Bishop Anthony B. Taylor, will begin at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Cathedral of St. Andrew, at 617 Louisiana Street in downtown Little Rock.

In Rome, leaders from around the world, and from all religions will descend on the Vatican to witness the mass and to show their respect for the new leader.

Bishop Taylor says, "I take special pride in the election of the first pope from the Americas and am inspired by his personal humility and his commitment to social justice."  Bishop Taylor's own motto follows the same theme of humility as the new Pope's;  "The humble shall inherit the Earth".
