Posted: Updated:

Tulsa Police officers confirm that the suspect in a fatal shooting in North Tulsa was taken into custody Sunday afternoon.

Police officers were dispatched this afternoon on a report of a shooting near 700 N. 23rd West Avenue.

Alonzo Stewart, 45, was shot to death outside of his home by 23-year-old Reginald Ward.

According to a release from officials, the deceased and Ward have had an ongoing feud. The two crossed paths and a disturbance broke out, which led to the shooting today.

Ward's father called Tulsa Police and  managed to convince his son to turn himself over. Both the weapon and getaway car were recovered by officers.

In the release, officials commend Ward's father "...for gaining control of the situation and convincing Mr. Ward to do the right thing."

According to police, an officer was in the area and was able to respond quickly. Medics attempted to revive the man, but were unable to do so.

Tulsa Police asks that anyone with information on the three murders that are still open for 2013 to call Crime Stoppers at 918-596-2477, the Homicide Tip Line at 918-798-8477 or email homicide@cityoftulsa.org.
