Claim: Global warming to cause pollen count to skyrocket

(KATV) If you think your allergies are bad now, experts say they will only get worse and that you can blame global warming for that. That is according to the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology. They say with warmer temperatures, plants are pollinating earlier, that means more of them and pollen.

New research shows pollen counts are expected to skyrocket over the next 30 years. Pollen counts averaged above 8,000 in 2000. They're expected to surpass 21,000 by 2040.

Allergy seasons are also expected to begin earlier each year.

Doctors say they are seeing more allergy patients. They recommend getting treated early for the best outcome during allergy season.
