LITTLE ROCK (AP) - Evan James drilled a desperation 3-pointer from the corner as time ran out, giving Little Rock Hall a 34-33 victory over Jonesboro for the Warriors' fourth consecutive Arkansas Class 6A title.
With seven lead changes and six ties, a player from each team was named the most valuable player - Bobby Portis for Hall (26-5), who had 10 points and 17 rebounds, and Justin Ross for Jonesboro (28-5), who had 10 points and four assists.
Ross' layup with a minute left put Jonesboro up 32-29 and, after a Portis basket, Ross hit one free throw to make it 33-31 with 10.1 seconds left. James then drilled his only bucket of the game.
The Warriors outrebounded Jonesboro 39-20 and forced 18 turnovers.
Hall's girls' team won a title earlier Saturday.
