Conference USA Championship Underway in Tulsa

Posted: Updated:

The Conference USA Championship is underway in Tulsa. There are 21 teams both for women and men's basketball, which will bring hundreds of people to Tulsa. The Tulsa region is expected to benefit from the event to the tune of nearly $3 million in economic impact.

To make it easier to get around Tulsa there will be fan shuttles available Friday 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. The Red Line will service Brookside, Utica Square, Cherry Street and South Boston. The Blue Line will service the Blue Dome, Brady Arts and Deco Districts. Both red and blue lines start right out of the BOK Center.

The Tulsa Sports Commission and University of Tulsa want to show visitors that Tulsa residents and others in the area are behind big sporting events such as this one.

"This is one event that has been here before and it's back here this time we want to get more events like this we want to get on the national level again. In 2011, we hosted NCAA championship, these type of events with the attendance that we get help us get those events," says Don Tomkalski, TU Senior Associate Athletic Director for Communications.
