WEST MEMPHIS (KATV) - Police found the body of an unidentified female Tuesday afternoon.
The body of a white woman between 30 and 45 years old was found partially submerged in the water at the base of the 10 Mile Bayou around 12:50 p.m. There were no obvious signs of trauma and, as of early Tuesday evening, detectives had not declared this case a homicide.
While the victim was not identified, her apparent age led officers at the scene to tell our ABC station in Memphis, WPTY, that it is not the body of Sidney Randall, the Walnut Ridge teen who has been missing since Saturday night.
The victim's body was sent to the Arkansas State Medical Examiner's Office to try and determine the cause and manner of death.
"This investigation is obviously in its early stages and we hope to have a positive identification very soon and make proper notification to the victim's family," said Capt. Ken Mitchell of the West Memphis Police Department. "At this time, there are no other details that the West Memphis Police Department feels are appropriate to release."
