Man Questioned in Death of Tulsa High School Student

Posted: Updated:

Tulsa Police are continuing their investigation this week into the murder of an area high school student found stabbed to death earlier this month.

Eighteen-year-old Gabrielle "Gabby" Bledsoe was pronounced dead at the scene when TPD were called to 1800 N. Atlanta around 8:45 a.m. on a report of a stabbing.

According to a release from TPD, officers have continued to look into witness accounts and verifying alibis. As of this week, they have applied for and received an arrest warrant for James Barber, 31.

The release also said:

"Barber appeared at the police station with his attorney. We continue to look into this matter and will arrest when evidence warrants an arrest even if it does not directly pertain to the murder"

Gabby's mother had spent the night at a relative's home and on her return, discovered Gabrielle dead, according to the report.

Andrena Carroll, Gabby's aunt, described her as a sweet girl who loved to joke.

"All the time. It's all she did. Tell jokes," Carroll said, "If you were sad in any kind of way, she'd come in and just get everybody going. So, she was a lot of fun. Just an innocent child."

Anyone with information on this case is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 918 598 2477 Homicide Tip Line at 798 8477 or email homicide@cityoftulsa.org
