A Tulsa couple was arrested over the weekend after police stopped their car in south Tulsa and found them under the influence with children in the backseat.

Vang Xiong, 29, and Nau Gee Vang, 27, were taken into custody by Tulsa Police just after midnight Saturday. The couple were stopped by an office near the 6400 block of E. 41st Street.

According to the police report, the officer originally pulled them over after he found their vehicle with an expired tag. When he approached the vehicle he observed that Xiong had "bloodshot eyes and a strong odor associated with the consumption of an alcoholic beverage about his breathe and person."

During the stop the officer witnessed four children inside the vehicle and not in child restraints. The four children ranged in age from 4-months, one-year, two-year and five-years-old.

Xiong also told the police officer that he had "smoked two bowls" during the stop and told him the marijuana was located in the console under the CD player.

Xiong was charged with four counts of child endangerment, possession of marijuana and four counts of no child restraint. His girlfriend, Vang, was charged with public intoxication.

Both are due in court later this month.
