
LITTLE ROCK (AP) - A pair of Kalisha Willis layups in the final 1:27 lifted Norphlet to a 44-41 victory over Marmaduke for the Arkansas Class 2A girls basketball title and a perfect season.
Willis was named the game's most valuable player in Thursday's game.
She scored on a reverse layup with 87 seconds left to give Norphlet (35-0) a 40-39 lead, then added a steal and layup 28 a half-minute later. Norphlet's Jalisha Willis hit two free throws with 11.9 seconds left to ice the contest.
Jalisha Willis led Norphlet with 13 points and Kalisha Willis scored 12.
Marmaduke (41-3) was led by Whitley Boggs's 18 points. Jessica Lee added 10 points.
Marmaduke led 7-0 early and was up by eight at halftime and by two entering the final period.
