LITTLE ROCK (AP) - Brianna Jackson scored 18 points, including a spinning layup with 1:16 left, to give Fort Smith Northside the lead and the Bears pulled away for a 51-46 victory over crosstown rival Fort Smith Southside in the Class 7A Arkansas girls basketball title game.
In the title game for the third straight year, the Bears (27-4) 6 of 6 free throws down the stretch Friday, including four by Bria Caldwell, who finished with 13 points. Olivia Hanson added 11 for the Bears. Kilah Cummings had 12 rebounds as Northside outrebounded Southside 35-26. The Bears also forced 18 Southside turnovers.
Southside, which led for most of 3 quarters, was led by Payton Hamilton with 16 points and seven rebounds. Calli White added 13 points and four assists.
Northside won two regular-season meetings.
