
LITTLE ROCK (AP) - Jessica Jackson had 22 points, nine rebounds and three blocked shots as Jacksonville's girls' basketball team beat Paragould 54-43 for the Class 5A state championship.
Jacksonville won the boys' title earlier Friday.
The Red Devils (26-4) opened the game with a 14-0 run and never trailed, though Paragould twice pulled within three points.
Paragould (24-5) trailed 24-21 at halftime but missed three chances to tie the game in the third quarter. Jacksonville was up 36-26 going into the final quarter.
Shakyla Hill finished with 13 points for Jacksonville.
Paragould was led by Sydney Layrock with 23 points and 14 rebounds.
The Lady Rams outrebounded Jacksonville 41-30 and only had one more turnover (10-9), but shot poorly. Paragould was 18 of 57 from the floor; Jacksonville was 20 of 42.
