LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - A resentencing hearing is planned for an Arkansas doctor convicted in the bombing that nearly killed the head of the Arkansas State Medical Board.
In December, the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ordered a new sentencing for Randeep Mann, who was convicted in the 2009 bombing at the home of Dr. Trent Pierce. The appeals court affirmed Mann's conviction of conspiring to use a weapon of mass destruction, but said Mann shouldn't have received a sentencing enhancement based on allegations that he ordered the assault of an inmate.
Mann was originally sentenced to life in prison.
He isn't expected to attend Monday's resentencing. According to a court filing, Mann said he is receiving medical treatment at the U.S. Medical Center for Federal Prisoners in Springfield, Mo.
