LITTLE ROCK (KATV) -
The Little Rock School Board approved a new superintendent Tuesday night.
Board directors voted in executive session to offer the post to Dr. Dexter Suggs, the Indianapolis Public Schools' chief of staff. Suggs has also served as a chief information officer as well as a high school and middle school principal.
District officials said they called Dr. Suggs Tuesday night to offer him the position and he accepted. A start date was not given.
Suggs was chosen from a pool of four finalists, along with:
- Connie Hathorn, superintendent in Youngstown, Ohio
- Dr. Stephanie Phillips, deputy superintendent of Clayton County Public Schools in Georgia
- Dr. Walter Milton, superintendent in Springfield, Illinois
The four finalists were narrowed down from a pool of nine originally selected by an outside search firm.
