BENTON (KATV) - A K-9 officer and his service dog caught a burglar red handed Saturday, according to police.

The sergeant said he saw 53-year-old Terry Johnson coming out of the back of the Benton Antique Mall on I-30 and the alarm was going off. When he told Johnson to stop, Johnson reported tried to run away.

The service dog, "Lucky," was slightly hurt by a chain link fence during the chase but they caught Johnson and arrested him. Investigators later named 55-year-old James Deaton as a suspect and arrested him as well.

Both were on parole at the time of the robbery.

Johnson was charged with seven crimes, including commercial burglary, theft of property and public intoxication. Deaton was charged with commercial burglary and theft of property.

At last check, both men were being held at the Saline County Detential Facility.
