BENTON (KATV) - Police arrested a Texas man Friday after he was allegedly caught breaking into a house in Benton earlier that week.

Homeowners told Saline County deputies that they woke up just after midnight Thursday and found an unknown black male inside their home. He confronted them, demanding property and money then drove away in the homeowners' car. It was a white 2004 Fort Mustang convertible with a tan top and Arkansas license plate 416-RAM.

They identified 41-year-old Derek Dione Wilkerson of Mesquite, Texas, from a photo lineup.

Members of a U.S. Marshals task force in Dallas took Wilkerson into custody on arrest warrants for numerous charges including felony residential burglary, aggravated assault and terroristic threatening.
