BENTON (Saline Courier) - A former lieutenant of the Benton Fire Department appeared in federal court Tuesday on child pornography charges.

Timothy Ryan Bodkin, 39, pleaded not guilty. The judge allowed his $200,000 bail to continue so, after his plea, Bodkin walked out of the courthouse.

Last May, a special agent with the Arkansas State Police said he isolated an IP address used by Bodkin which had downloaded pornographic images. Bodkin was arrested on June 19 by Saline County deputies.

Sheriff Lt. Mike Frost said searches of Bodkin's laptop, which he kept in a locker at the Benton Fire Department, found more than 1,000 images of child pornography. Frost told Channel 7 News at the time of the arrest that there was no indication that any of the images involve local children.
