HOT SPRINGS (AP) - Jockey Calvin Borel will make his next attempt at his 5,000th win aboard Rose to Gold in the $150,000 Honeybee at Oaklawn Park.
Borel didn't have any winners over the weekend. Rose to Gold is a Kentucky Oaks and Fantasy Stakes prospect, and Borel will ride her on March 9 in Hot Springs.
The filly placed in the Feb. 9 Martha Washington Stakes in her first start of the year.
Trainer Sal Santoro said Wednesday that Borel would pick up the mount in favor of Florida-based jockeys that had ridden Rose to Gold in her last five starts.
Santoro says he wanted a rider familiar with Oaklawn, where Borel has twice been leading rider.
Borel has been stuck on 4,999 wins since breaking a wrist last month.
